Artist Statement
I believe that time began with the birth of Light.
Light is fundamental to everything and is central to my work. I use metal as my primary material because of its ability to reflect light. Reflectivity for me embodies the perpetual cycle of conflict and resolution that energises all things. Reflectivity is also a metaphor for communication. Just as people project impressions of themselves on others that are subtly distorted on each rebound, light reflecting on the surface of metal imparts to the world images I have inscribed on them, refracting them ad infinitum. By scratching images onto metal, I believe I am inscribing our lives and our era onto light.
